Crime podcast “Under Suspicion” (3/3)
When the “guru” barricaded himself in the house with the samurai sword
Almost 15 years ago, an outrageous case of a Bernese music teacher became known who infected his victim with HIV during healing rituals. The trial against him escalated.
The outrageous suspicion is confirmed: Claudio G., a Bernese music teacher and self-selected healer, may have intentionally infected more than a dozen people with HIV and hepatitis C.
After the fall became public through “SonntagsBlick” in the summer of 2010, the outcry was enormous and the pressure on the authorities increased. Because six years after the first suspicion, Claudio G. is still at large.
Our expert and long-time court reporter Thomas Hasler explains how it could be that the investigating authorities were unable to prove anything to Claudio G. for a long time. And forensic psychologist May Beyli explains how these actions fit the “healer’s” personality. What could be his motive for the deliberate infections?
Despite clear evidence, Claudio G. insists that he is innocent. He speaks of a conspiracy against him. But in spring 2013 he had to face the Bern regional court and face the allegations against him. The process begins – and results in an escalation.
