On June 5, 2009, a tragic crime occurred in Grenchen SO: a family of three who were involved in an illegal gift-giving circle were robbed and killed in their own apartment. The murders became known as the Schenkkreis murders.

One of the convicted perpetrators has come one step closer to freedom: According to a credible source, he has been housed in open prison in an institution in the canton of Lucerne since yesterday.

That's what happened then

Shortly before the crime was committed in June 2009, the client blamed the two men for whom she was responsible for the murder: a then 32-year-old former top athlete and a 24-year-old chef. The men owed her 20,000 francs. They assumed the family had a large sum of money at home because of their illegal business.

Instead, they only found 5,000 francs, 600 euros, costume jewelry and four watches. The former top athlete shot the 60-year-old father with a shot in the head, while the cook and he suffocated the 55-year-old mother and her 35-year-old daughter with plastic bags.

All three executed – the client and the two perpetrators who carried out the execution – were ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment. The mastermind is now no longer in the closed prison. According to a former acquaintance, she works and occasionally stays in a friend's caravan in Aargau.

For 20 minutes, the correctional office in the canton of Solothurn asked whether it could confirm this. As of the publication of this article, we have not received a response.
