UVALDE, Texas – A student in Uvalde got in trouble after bringing an air rifle to school, according to school officials.
On Monday, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) announced that the air rifle was found on the Flores Elementary School student at the end of the day.
“At the end of the day, when the student was picking up the bus, he pulled the air rifle out of his backpack and pointed it at another student,” said Superintendent Chohlis. “Adults intervened very quickly.”
Ashley Chohlis, superintendent of Uvalde CISD, says the air rifle was not loaded and belonged to the student's brother.
School administration is currently actively investigating the incident but has stated that the student will not attend class.
The district urges parents to talk to their children about responsible decisions.
We also learned that Uvalde CISD has eliminated the position of District Police Chief.
Lieutenant Pedro Huizar will be the interim chief of the department and will continue the search in May 2025.
