New swa drinking water pressure increase in Aystetten with PV drive

To ensure that the citizens of Aystetten are supplied with even more drinking water, the Augsburg public utilities (swa) have put a new pressure booster system into operation together with the first mayor, Peter Wendel. This means that the community can be supplied with drinking water via two pipes. If one line fails, the supply can still be ensured via the other line. “This means we meet the standard of redundant water supply and increase the security of supply for our water customers in Aystetten,” says Florian Killer, division manager of swa Wasser GmbH.

Since January 2024, Stadtwerke Augsburg has been responsible for the drinking water supply in Aystetten as a concessionaire. They not only ensure the high quality of drinking water for citizens, but also guarantee security of supply. A second pressure boosting system has now been put into operation for exactly this purpose. “This means we can always guarantee a reliable water supply in Aystetten,” says Florian Killer, division manager at swa Wasser GmbH. “The new system increases the pressure in the water pipes so that, for example, when showering or brushing your teeth, the water comes out of the tap with the same constant water pressure,” says Killer, explaining the importance of the system.

Until now, the community was supplied with drinking water exclusively via the Loderberg elevated tank, which delivered the water to Aystetten via a pipe through the forest. In order to better connect Aystetten to the Swa supply network, a new supply line was built from the Hammel district of Neusäß to Aystetten at the end of 2023.

The new pressure boosting system is rounded off by a PV system on the roof. The pumps can be supported by renewable solar energy. The green space around the building is being restored in cooperation with the Augsburg Land District Office and the Bavarian State Forests. This planting compensates for the green space, which is permanently sealed by the building site. (AZ)
