The update KB5048667 for Windows 11 24H2 is causing problems for many users. “Windows Latest” reports numerous reports of installation problems. A common error message is error code 0x800f081f. One user explains: “I have a fast internet connection. It starts downloading, stalls at 0%, and finally fails at 100%.”

MacBook users who use Windows 11 via Parallels also report similar problems. Error code 0x80070302 often occurs when installing the update. Even manual installations and reinstallations of Windows cannot solve the problem.

After successfully installing the update, many users complain about performance problems. The computer becomes slower after a certain period of operation. Games like Roblox and League of Legends stutter, and the system feels generic. A simple restart only solves the problem for a short time.

One user describes: “The update slowed down my system. After a reboot, it works for a while, then starts to slow down again.” “Windows Latest” suspects a problem with the CPU scheduler, which may reduce the performance of games and applications.

This is what you can do if the Windows update causes problems

There is currently no tested solution. Users should consider uninstalling the update or waiting until Microsoft releases a new patch. Possible measures to alleviate the problems include disabling Fast Boot or adjusting CPU settings.

In addition to the performance issues, users are reporting higher CPU temperatures, issues with Explorer, and playback issues with streaming apps like Netflix and Prime Video. Users report “Blue Screens of Death” (BSOD): After installation, the system can no longer boot and also displays an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.

Windows 11 24H2 has long-standing issues that have not been resolved by the update. The issues specifically affect File Explorer menu options and playback issues in video apps.
