The focus of “The Rookie” is John Nolan, played by “Castle” star Nathan Fillion. At the beginning of the series, Nolan moved to Los Angeles to train as a police officer. The special thing about it: At over 40 years old, he is probably the oldest newcomer that the police have welcomed so far – hence the series title, because “rookie” means something like “beginner”.
But now Nolan has long since left his rookie status behind and has worked his way up from a newcomer to a respected police officer. In the fifth season he even became a police trainer himself. Review of the dramatic finale of season five
The end of the last season left viewers in suspense. An unknown group attacks the LAPD team in several stages. Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) and Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) were initially targeted when they were attacked on their way home. Particularly tragic: Aaron was shot and then had to be put into an induced coma.
Nolan and his partner Bailey (Jenna Dewan) were not spared either. There was an attack in her home in which Bailey fought off the intruder and injured him. At the same time, Nyla Harper's daughter was kidnapped, but was quickly rescued. Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) narrowly escaped an attack when the LAPD intervened at the last second. But all these attacks seemed to be just a diversionary tactic – the real mastermind was already setting the next step in his plans in motion…
