Fans of “Ted Lasso” are currently still waiting for an official confirmation of the fourth season. In the meantime, not only has the series “Shrinking,” also written by Bill Lawrence, been renewed, but now “Bad Monkey” has also been renewed.
Bill Lawrence, among other things the creative mind behind the series “Scrubs”, seems to have a good partnership with Apple TV+. He has already successfully launched three series on the streaming provider. While fans of the football series “Ted Lasso” with Jason Sudeikis are currently still waiting for the official confirmation of a fourth season, “Shrinking” with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford has just been renewed for a third season.
There is now good news for the third Lawrence-Apple TV+ cooperation: “Bad monkey(or “Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey”, as the series is also called here) will also get a second season. The first season is based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen. Although there is a sequel novel with “Razor Girl”, the industry magazine diversity learned that the second season will not be based on this book.
This is “Bad Monkey”
At the center of “Bad Monkey” is Andrew Yancy, played by Vince Vaughn. Yancy is a former Miami detective whose career was cut short by a scandal. Instead of solving crimes, his life was now spent as a health inspector in South Florida – a job he deeply detested.
But one day when tourists fish a severed human arm out of the water, Yancy sees his chance: he senses a murder case that could give him the opportunity to rehabilitate himself and restore his reputation. But the deeper Yancy digs, the more he is drawn into the dark world of greed, corruption and unscrupulous machinations.
In addition to Vince Vaughn (“The Wedding Crashers”), the first season also stars L. Scott Caldwell (“Lost”), Rob Delaney (“Deadpool & Wolverine”), Meredith Hagner (“Joy Ride”), Natalie Martinez (” Death Race”), Alex Moffat (“Saturday Night Live”), “Mission: Impossible” star Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet (“The Meyerowitz Stories”) and Jodie Turner-Smith (“The Last Ship”). Stars such as John Ortiz (“American Gangster”), Zach Braff (“Scrubs”), Scott Glenn (“Silence of the Lambs”) and Charlotte Lawrence, the daughter of series creator Bill Lawrence, also make guest appearances.
By the way: The finale of “Scrubs” was 15 years ago. Now there should actually be a reboot. You can find out what we already know about it in the following article:
