At Christmas 1986, Lorraine Taggart received a call from her brother Ross in Fife, Scotland. Her mother, Carol, has disappeared and has not been seen for several days. Ross explains that he and his mother had an argument and she drove to the family trailer to calm down. But Carol can't be found there or anywhere else the family is looking for her. The police are called in and a search begins. The police focus on Ross, whose story about his mother's disappearance doesn't seem to make sense.
