The brand new primetime special “Manhunt: Luigi Mangione and the CEO Murder – A Special Edition of 20/20” from ABC News Studios airs Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10 p.m. on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu. The hour-long film delves deep into a story that captivated the nation, providing a meticulous examination of the cold-blooded execution of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the shocking backlash on social media that left the alleged killer for some made folk heroes. In an exclusive audio recording, his voice, Luigi Mangione, can be heard clearly on national television as he talks about his travels across Asia. The special also reveals new details about the hunt for the suspect, examines what may have driven suspected killer Luigi Mangione to murder, and reviews new reports about what police believe are handwritten confessions found in Mangione's backpack designated document criticizing the health care system and the three ominous words written on the bullet casings.
The special features interviews with a friend of the suspect, Brad Garrett, a former FBI profiler and ABC News contributor, Aaron Katersky, ABC News senior investigative correspondent, Brian Buckmire, ABC News legal staff and defense attorney, Josh Margolin, senior investigative reporter from ABC News, and Josh Einer, reporter at WABC Eyewitness News.
