If you're still looking for ideas and recipes for Christmas dinner, you might find what you're looking for in these three apps.
Very few experienced cooks will probably need ideas or recipes for the German Christmas classic potato salad with sausages. But what if there should be something different on Christmas Eve and the holidays? What about a delicious vegetarian or vegan alternative? Of course, there are countless websites and apps that can help you find suggestions for the feast. Here is a selection of three programs that might be worth taking a look at.
Chef
Almost everyone in Germany who is interested in cooking or baking has probably heard of the “Chefkoch” portal. The associated Android app alone has been downloaded over ten million times. According to the developer, the app has more than 370,000 recipes on offer for every season, including the holidays, of course. When searching for the keyword “Christmas” you will find more than 14,000 recipes from the classic sauerbraten to the Christmas goose to “Rogue” cookies. “Chefkoch” is available for Android and iOS as a free basic version or with a paid subscription.
Yummy
Fancy international Christmas cuisine? Those interested may find what they are looking for in the “Tasty” recipe collection. The English-language app, which has been downloaded millions of times worldwide, offers both savory and sweet treats – from garlic butter steak and Christmas tree-shaped bread with cheese and spinach, to espresso cookies with salted caramel. “Tasty” is also available free of charge for Android and iOS.
Eat smarter
The “Eat Smarter” portal focuses on healthy eating. According to the developers, the basic version of the app also has more than 10,000 recipes with a “health score”. This shows on a point scale how healthy a dish is. In addition to hearty beef roulades with a plum and chestnut filling, you can also find vegan nut roasts, gluten-free gingerbread or low-carb hazelnut macaroons. The app is also available free of charge for Android and iOS.
