Munich – How does FC Bayern react to the first defeat in the Bundesliga under Vincent Kompany? Last weekend there was a 1:2 defeat at FSV Mainz. RB Leipzig will be coming to the end of the year on Friday, December 20th at the Allianz Arena.

FC Bayern against RB Leipzig: Harry Kane back in team training
Goal scorer Harry Kane trained again with the FC Bayern Munich team at the start of the last competitive week of the year. Like full-back Alphonso Davies, the 31-year-old again completed parts of the team training. Kane suffered a small muscle fiber tear in his right back thigh in the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund. Davies suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left back thigh in the game against Heidenheim.
Next Friday (8:30 p.m./DAZN) the last game of the year is on the program for Munich against RB Leipzig. In the 1:2 loss against FSV Mainz 05, the English national team captain was sorely missing from the team.
Coman and Gnabry in running training
While coach Vincent Kompany hopes that Kane and Davies will be back at least for part of the game against Leipzig, he will have to do without Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry until next year. Like Davies, Coman suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left back thigh in the Bundesliga game against Heidenheim at the beginning of December. Gnabry was recently absent due to knee problems. Now the two wingers completed a running session for the first time since their injuries.
Kane with a higher goal tally
Kompany is not taking any risks with the returnees. Kompany doesn't expect a full squad again until the new year, on January 11th in the away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. After the increased number of injuries, he adjusted his plans for winter preparation. Due to the personnel situation, the Munich team will forego the friendly against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on January 6th.
Kane cannot actually be replaced as a classic center forward in the Munich squad. Most recently, scoring goals in the 5-1 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League worked pretty well without him, but things were different against Mainz. But overall, the Munich team cannot do without the goalscorer. He scored 14 times this season in the Bundesliga, five times in the European premier league and once in the DFB Cup. (dpa/kk)
