WhatsApp has a new feature for groups in its latest beta version 2.24.26.17 for Android. It should soon be possible to mention groups in your own status updates. This feature will gradually be made available to beta testers.

According to the development team behind WhatsApp, the new beta version allows entire groups to be tagged in a status update. Instead of adding each contact individually, it should be enough to mention the group as a whole. All members of the group will then receive a notification.

Additionally, group members who don't normally see your status updates can still view the post if their group is mentioned. This means that every group member can be reached directly without having to change the privacy settings.

Two rules for the new WhatsApp group function

Another useful feature is that group members can share status update content with their own contacts. The original author remains anonymous, allowing information to be disseminated effectively without revealing personal details.

However, WhatsApp has set limitations for this feature. A maximum of five groups can be mentioned in a status update. Furthermore, each group may not have more than 32 members. These restrictions are intended to ensure that the app works smoothly even with many encrypted messages.
