Magdeburg – The Magdeburg Customs have seized a huge amount of illegal fireworks in the last few days and are warning about the dangers.
According to the Magdeburg main customs office, the customs officers confiscated a total of 240 kilograms of pyrotechnics. These were discovered when checking suspicious parcel shipments.
“The recipients of the shipments now expect criminal proceedings for violating the Explosives Act due to the import of unauthorized fireworks in categories F2 and F3,” said Sebastian Schultz, press spokesman for the Magdeburg Main Customs Office.
The import of non-conformity-assessed fireworks that do not bear the CE mark is prohibited and punishable under the Explosives Act, it said.
Caught in the act, but still escaped: police are looking for burglars!
The customs office is therefore warning again about the dangers of fireworks. Caution is particularly advised when purchasing the popular pyrotechnics. Before New Year's Eve, fireworks of unknown origin or with poor processing are often offered and introduced.
In the worst case, using these rockets and firecrackers can lead to life-threatening situations.
Schultz therefore advises: “If you don’t want to endanger yourself or others and also don’t want to suffer unpleasant criminal consequences – stay away from unauthorized fireworks!”
