'Death in Paradise' newcomer admits Ralf Little replacement 'isn't liked' | Television & Radio | Showbiz and television

Death in Paradise's newest addition, Don Gilet, has spoken about his character's rocky start on the Caribbean island of Saint Marie. The former EastEnders actor steps into the spotlight as the new lead detective after Ralf Little left the role of DI Neville Parker.

Don will make his first appearance as DI Mervin Wilson in the highly anticipated Christmas special Death in Paradise, airing on December 22nd.

In a recent chat on The One Show, the actor gave viewers a glimpse of what to expect from DI Wilson as he adjusts to island life.

“He wasn’t really popular to begin with. “He doesn’t want to be there, he doesn’t like the place, the pace of the place… All of that works against him and against his methods,” Don confessed.

“He doesn’t suffer fools gladly. He doesn't have much patience, he's a guy who doesn't stand still. Everything has to happen like that, at the pace of London, and if it doesn't, he gets impatient. “And then you decide whether you like him or not, because he annoys his colleagues,” he continued.

Don went on to explain that although his character is set to leave the island, a murder case arises while he is on “sort of” a vacation, drawing him into the seasonal crime thriller despite his reticence.

One Show hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo previewed a scene in which Mervin's boss calls him as he is about to board a plane off the island. Despite his desire to leave, his attempts are thwarted, Wales Online reports.

The teaser for the highly anticipated Christmas episode “Death in Paradise” reveals: “We’re back on the beautiful island of Saint Marie, and this time with a new detective in tow. Londoner Mervin Wilson is annoyed when he clashes with those on the island.” Way of life.

“But he quickly delves into one of the team's most puzzling murder cases to date: three men, unrelated except for the fact that they're dressed as Santa Claus, are shot dead at exactly the same time with exactly the same weapon.”

“While Mervin struggles with this impossible murder, his colleagues struggle with their new boss's unusual work methods. And Dwayne’s Christmas with his dad doesn’t go quite according to plan.”

Death in paradise The Christmas special will air on BBC One and iPlayer on December 22nd at 8:30pm.
