Charges against man from Potsdam after he allegedly fled from police on a motorcycle

POTSDAM — A man from Potsdam is accused of fleeing from police on a motorcycle and now faces several charges, village police said.

David F. Phillips, 44, was charged with unlawful flight, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, running a red light, speeding (60 mph in a 30 mph zone), driving to the left of lane markings, driving outside of class time, driving an uninspected motor vehicle and third-degree driving without a license, officials said.

Police attempted to stop Phillips on Maple Street for allegedly passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone and running a red light.

Phillips is said to have fled from police for a short distance before finally stopping to check traffic.

He was summoned at 11:05 p.m. and released, police said.
