Father reports on violence at the Saarlouis school – Blaulichtreport-Saarland.de

Saarlouis – A father from Saarlouis makes serious allegations against the Johann Hinrich Wichern School. According to his description, a teacher is said to have physically attacked his 11-year-old son Finn-Luca on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The father describes that the boy refused to spend his break outside in the rain and cold. The teacher then tried to force him outside and grab the child by the wrist.

According to a medical certificate available to our editorial team, the child's left hand was red and painful after the incident. The doctor, who also practices in Saarlouis, also reports that Finn-Luca is now very afraid of further incidents at school. The father also expressed criticism of the communication with the school: emails were not answered, phone calls were unsuccessful, and an appointment with the integration teacher was also not effective without the necessary documents.

The school describes itself online as “a special school for emotional and social development”. This means that “we try to give support to our students, whose individual situations and behavior are often very challenging.” In doing so, we take their psychological development into account and try to find specific solutions.”

The school management only briefly responded to a query from our editorial team and referred to the press office of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The ministry says the case is currently being investigated, but no further information can be released for procedural reasons. The mayor of Saarlouis, Marc Speicher, also referred to the responsibility of the state and the Ministry of Culture.

A look at the school's Google reviews shows that this is not the first critical report. With an average of 2 out of 5 stars, the school is rated poorly overall. One review read: “Bad school. Teachers are incompetent and rude. Classmates are miserable. Everyone smokes and plays games on their cell phones in class. A teacher is violent towards students.” Another user describes: “Really the very last thing. The deputy principal does everything as he needs it and is extremely overwhelmed.” Even if such assessments are not representative, they can be an important indicator of structural problems.

The situation remains stressful for the family. The father reports that his son is having difficulties at school anyway. According to his father, Finn-Luca only receives school for two hours a day, and even when he is sick there is a lack of teaching materials. A half-year report is not worth evaluating, which the father describes as catastrophic for his child's education.

It remains unclear whether the allegations against the teacher are confirmed. The incident is still ongoing and is putting considerable strain on the relationship between the family and the school.
