For many people, one film in particular belongs to the Christmas season: “The Little Lord”. The role was played by Ricky Schroder. It's hardly recognizable today.
The classic “The Little Lord” was shown for the first time more than 40 years ago. Today it is still one of the most popular Christmas films in the world. Ricky Schroder was just ten years old when he played the heartwarming Little Lord Fauntleroy alongside Alec Guinness in 1980.
Today Ricky Schroder is 54 years old, still works as an actor and makes TV documentaries. He lets his almost 120,000 followers share in his life and everyday life via Instagram. This also includes his four children.
But in November 2020, Ricky Schroder caused a scandal. At the time, he expressed his support for Kyle Rittenhouse. The then 17-year-old shot and killed two people while taking part in the “Black Lives Matter” protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020.
He also trivialized the corona pandemic and refused to wear a mask in shops. The former child star developed into a right-wing patriot, corona denier and vaccination opponent. In the summer of 2021, for example, he accused the rock band Foo Fighters of being “bought by the pharmaceutical industry” because they played in front of a vaccinated audience. Schroder repeatedly expresses bizarre theories on Instagram.
Schröder was actually one of the few child stars who, after their great fame, did not crash at a young age or lose themselves in drug excesses. To date, he is the youngest actor to ever win a Golden Globe. He received this award for his role in the 1979 film “The Champ,” in which he starred alongside Jon Voight.
However, his success as a movie star ended with his childhood. He then starred in relatively unknown films such as “Hostage High” or “Poolham Junkies” and took on smaller roles in TV series. From 1998 to 2001 he played a detective in the crime series “NYPD Blue”, and in 2003 he appeared in “Scrubs” for four episodes.
He also works as a producer and director: in the six-hour TV documentary series “The Fighting Season,” which premiered in May 2015, he dealt with the trauma of US soldiers who were deployed in Afghanistan.
When it comes to love, things aren't going so well for Ricky Schroder. Shortly before their 24th wedding anniversary with his wife Andrea, the couple announced in 2016 that they were divorcing. The two have four children together: 31-year-old Holden, 30-year-old Luke, 27-year-old Cambrie and Faith, who at 22 is the baby of the family.
