Luxembourg: Alcohol tests lead to multiple driving license revocations

Yesterday, Wednesday evening, officers from the Luxembourg Police noticed a vehicle on rue de Mersch in Saeul whose low beam was defective, according to a press release from the Police Grand-Ducale on Thursday afternoon. During the inspection, the officers noticed the smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent drug test carried out on site on the driver was positive. The driver's license was then confiscated.

A traffic accident also occurred on the A6 that same evening. According to the press release, there was a collision between two vehicles at the level of the exit roads. One of the two drivers then continued driving with the hood open. A short time later, a police patrol said that drivers could find Bouillon on the P+R. The alcohol test was positive, whereupon the driver's license was confiscated.

On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, officers from the Grand-Ducale Police carried out alcohol checks at three different locations at the request of the public prosecutor.

As part of these checks, breath alcohol tests were carried out on 139 drivers, even though there was no evidence of possible intoxication. In five cases the test was positive, whereupon three drivers received fines and the other two received parking tickets. In one case, the driver's license was also confiscated on site.
