Three people face murder charges after a man was found dead on an Interstate 20 access road in Palo Pinto County on Monday, officials said.
Palo Pinto County officers responded around 9 a.m. to an I-20 access road near Exit 373 where the body of a deceased man was found. Palo Pinto County is approximately 85 miles west of downtown Dallas.
The man who investigators determined was the victim of an assault and had “traumatic injuries” was identified as Marvin Wayne Henry, according to a news release Wednesday. The sheriff's office said Henry, 68, lives in Dallas County.
As part of an investigation, authorities began searching for Henry's missing vehicle with the help of state and federal law enforcement. The search resulted in three arrests.
“We're happy about that … normally it doesn't happen this quickly,” Chief Deputy James Goodwin of the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
Henry's vehicle was found later Monday in Cooke County, near the Texas-Oklahoma border, Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington said Thursday. The two men, who were near Gainesville, were brought in for questioning.
Sappington said a third person was found walking near Valley View. They were also questioned, the statement says.
The publication identified the trio as Natalie Gomez, 31; Pascual Villaneda, 39; and Ruperto Toscano, 44. It was not immediately clear Thursday whether they had attorneys.
The release said the three remained in Cooke County custody Thursday awaiting transport to Palo Pinto County.
