Blind tomcat sinks in icy water: rescue at the last second!

A blind cat was stuck in the middle of a frozen pond with no where to go. Helpers were able to save him at the last second.

Massachusetts (USA) – Helfer was able to do one at the last second Hangover rescue from a floating patch of ice on a large pond. Tiki had probably fled from something and so the 20-year-old and blind animal maneuvered itself into a life-threatening situation.

A passerby first noticed the cat on Nabnasset Pond and immediately called the Westford Police Department, Westford Animal Control said in a post on Facebook.

She said the animal was about ten meters from the shore and was roaming around on the ice.

On the way to the pond, the woman reported how she heard the ice breaking. Shortly afterwards, only the four-legged friend's head was sticking out of the ice-cold water.

Shortly before the officers arrived, however, two kind-hearted helpers took action. Kris and Nate, who were working at a nearby house, take immediate action. Nate jumped into a rowboat and Kris tried to push him towards the needy cat with a lot of momentum.

He used a shovel as an icebreaker to get to the middle of the pond. He reached the cat quickly and was just able to get him out of the icy water before he succumbed to the cold.

His temperature was so low that it couldn't even be measured

Thanks to the heroic efforts of his rescuer, he survived Tiki and was able to settle back into his warm home.

They brought him into the house, dried him and wrapped him in a blanket.

Despite his best efforts, he continued to shake and barely move. The police officers who had now arrived immediately grabbed the furry friend and took her to a vet.

When her body temperature was measured, it was so low that the thermometer didn't even show a value.

Since we didn't know at the time whether the cat would make it, we worked hard to find the owners.

They actually got in touch and explained that their cat Tiki was missing. She also says that Tiki is not only 20 years old, but is also blind.

The poor guy was probably chased onto the ice by a predator, where he was stuck and floated around for a while. Fortunately, thanks to the heroic intervention of his brave rescuers, he survived.
