Bolzano/Trento – The Freedom Court in Trento has confirmed the house arrest for six of the seven accused who are involved in the investigation into the Tyrolean magnate René Benko and his contacts – including the Bolzano economic consultant Heinz Peter Hager. A total of 77 people are being investigated.

Specifically, it is about the suspicion of influencing public tenders in Trentino-South Tyrol. The accused had appealed against the house arrest.

In addition to Hager, the Trentino entrepreneur Paolo Signoretti, the South Tyrolean architects Fabio Rossa and Andrea Saccani, the former senator and mayor of Dro, Vittorio Fravezzi, and the Bolzano municipal official Daniela Eisenstecken also remain under house arrest.

Only in the case of the South Tyrolean journalist Lorenzo Barzon was house arrest converted into a reporting requirement, writes the Ansa news agency.

The Freedom Court did not recognize the aggravating circumstance of the mafia-like methods. Nevertheless, the court assumes that there is a criminal organization with regard to individual crimes.
