Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2: Was development stopped due to layoffs?

A report suggests that the sequel to the popular Tiny Tina's Wonderlands spin-off may have been put on hold. The development halt coincides with layoffs at co-developer Lost Boys Interactive.

Update: MP1st has since updated the original article. An unnamed 2K source said that “Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2” is still in development. No further details are available.

Report from December 16, 2024: In the world of video game development, projects are often unexpectedly stalled. “Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2”, the sequel to the role-playing shooter released in 2022 and positively received by players and testers, could also have suffered such a fate.

While the game hasn't even been officially announced yet, but already at the end of 2023 found mention in a LinkedIn profileinterpret from MP1st Collected evidence points to an early end to development.

Put on hold or stopped altogether?

First, the English-language publication refers to an unnamed informant: “According to our source who is familiar with the situation, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 was canceled in the last few months,” the report says.

The first indications of the possible discontinuation of “Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2” emerged when an artist from co-developer Lost Boys Interactive listed the game as “unreleased” in his ArtStation profile, which presumably means a longer-term or permanent status.

But that wasn't all: In addition, a former Lost Boys Interactive employee mentioned on his Linkedin profile that he had worked on a “cancelled, unannounced project” that was developed with Unreal Engine 4 – the same engine that was used for ” “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands” was used.
