Berlin – An early Christmas present Berlin-Neukölln? That could have had a bad or bloody end. Load jammers may have prevented a bloodbath.
At around 1.30 a.m. a man stormed into a café on Sonnenallee – apparently with the intention of killing. He is said to have threatened: “Now you’re going to die!”
It wasn't just a threat. According to witnesses, the 37-year-old pulled out a gun, fiddled with the pistol and then quickly ran away again. One shot didn't fire – even though he had loaded it. The weapon probably had loading jams and that prevented anything worse from happening.
According to the police, video recordings show him handling the weapon around one o'clock in a bar opposite the café.

Witnesses then called the police, who arrived with a large contingent. “When the radio vans approached, the person fled,” a police spokesman reported when asked by TAG24.
But the 37-year-old didn't get far. At the corner of Mareschstrasse and Brusendorfer Strasse, the police discovered the very drunk man. He was hiding behind a van.
He just didn't have the gun with him anymore. However, a little later she found a police officer in a trash can. “We are investigating suspected threats and a violation of the weapons law,” said the police spokesman. Before he was taken away, the man had to blow hard again. The result: 2.5 per mille!
The guests, on the other hand, were probably very lucky. According to initial findings, the pistol was said to have been a “sharp firearm”. But the pistol jammed at the right time.
