Schöndorf (dpa/lrs) – A woman was seriously injured by an air rifle shot by a 44-year-old man. The 61-year-old was at a public celebration in Schöndorf Trier-Saarburg district Police said they were shot at on Thursday evening trier.
Accordingly, several people present heard a kind of banging noise, after which the woman was injured in the neck. In the hospital, the projectile from an air rifle was then removed from her wound.
After police investigations, suspicions against a 44-year-old man from the village were confirmed. A corresponding weapon was found during a house search. The suspect admitted that he had fired the air rifle. However, he did not specifically shoot at people or the victim.
The investigation into the exact nature of the crime and the motive is ongoing. The 44-year-old is being investigated, among other things, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
