Suspect arrested in University of Bridgeport dining hall shooting

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – A man wanted in connection with a shooting at the University of Bridgeport dining hall has been arrested by police.

Police said 18-year-old Dylan Cruz-Tillery of Queens, NY, turned himself in Friday morning.

He had an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree assault with a firearm and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court later Friday.

The shooting happened on Oct. 29 and police said it involved a girl.

According to police, the shooting left one juvenile victim injured and was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm. They said the incident was a targeted shooting in which Cruz-Tillery knew the victim and had previously communicated with him on social media.

On the day of the shooting, the incident led to an immediate lockdown of the university and a large security and police deployment.

A firearm and several other items of evidence were found, seized and ultimately processed by the Bridgeport Police Department's Major Crimes Unit, they said.

The lockdown was lifted early the next morning.
