The world's largest Star Wars fans exhibition can be seen in the Frankfurt Raumfabrik.

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away… – the fairytale opening sequence of the Star Wars films is probably familiar to every fan of the saga. Since the first installment hit theaters in 1977, Star Wars has become a global phenomenon that has inspired generations of fans.

After stops in New York, Las Vegas, London, Vienna and Berlin, “The Fans Strike Back”, the world's largest Star Wars fans exhibition, is now stopping in Frankfurt. It will be on display in the Raumfabrik on Heddernheimer Landstrasse until March 23, 2025 – for the last time in Germany for the time being. The show then moves on; Actually, it is only planned in one city per country.

It is an exhibition for fans of fans, visitors can marvel at more than 1000 exhibits, some of which were painstakingly built by themselves. They are both handmade and fan-made with passion and were built in the space factory over several weeks.

The exhibits include life-size figures of Darth Vader, Yoda, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and many other characters. The popular aliens from the Cantina in Episode IV are also there. They all tell a unique story.

Iconic costumes

There are also iconic costumes and models that have shaped the fan scene for more than four decades. Film scenes from all nine films in the saga were recreated in detail. For example, the Battle of Naboo from Episode I or Luke Skywalker and Han Solo's fight against the creature Dianoga in the Death Star's trash compactor from Episode IV.

The exhibition

“The fans are fighting back” is the world's largest Star Wars fans exhibition. More than 1,000 exhibits are on display, most of which were built by hand by fans for fans. The exhibition can be seen in the Raumfabrik Frankfurt, Heddernheimer Landstraße 155, until March 23, 2025. It is open Monday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. You should plan around 75 minutes for the visit. Tickets cost 25 euros, reduced prices 20 euros. They are available at www.fansstrikeback.de

The audience For example, you can look forward to life-size figures of well-known characters and dioramas with lovingly recreated film scenes. Weapons such as blaster pistols and lightsabers can also be seen. There is also a large collection of merchandise related to the popular droid R2-D2. With a VR experience you can slip into the role of a space pilot yourself. prph

While visitors enjoy detailed miniature models or dioramas showing, for example, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mandalorians cross the rows of the exhibition. You also encounter stormtroopers, Jedi Knights, Siths and bounty hunters. One of the Jedi Knights reports that he put around 1000 euros into his costume. An investment that makes the cosplays look so deceptively real.

And suddenly the visitors land on the ice planet Hoth, known from Episode V, “The Empire Strikes Back”. The battle between the rebels and the rulers of Hoth particularly excited fans. We continue into the forest of Endor. In Episode VI (“Return of the Jedi”), Luke Skywalker and his companions find themselves in the company of the Ewoks on the forest planet.

Roadworthy land speeder

Large replicas of spacecraft can also be seen. For example, the Podracer with which the young Anakin Skywalker raced across the desert planet Tatooine in Episode I, “The Phantom Menace”. Luke Skywalker's “Landspeeder C-34” from the first Star Wars film in 1977 is more than six meters long. The wooden chassis is even roadworthy – although not street legal.

Exhibition visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the film saga through interactive experiences. With virtual reality glasses (VR) you can jet through space on a spaceship. As you fly through an asteroid field and reach another planet via hyperspace, the seat wobbles and trembles.
