Dossenheim: Fire brigade got paraglider with ladder from tree (update) – police reports from Rhine-Neckar-Odenwald

Dossenheim. (bmi) A paraglider fell into a tree in the Dossenheim Forest on Friday. The young woman was stuck in the crown at a height of around 15 meters. She remained uninjured and was rescued by the fire department using a turntable ladder. Over 30 emergency services from the fire brigades from Dossenheim and Schriesheim as well as the police and rescue services were on duty in the forest above Dossenheim for around an hour.

The young woman, around her mid-20s, landed in a tree at around 2:55 p.m. in the forest above the Vatter quarry, an extension of the quarry path, for reasons that are still unknown. “She was just hanging by the threads of her paraglider and had not been able to temporarily secure herself,” said Dossenheim’s fire brigade commander Stefan Wieder about the dangerous situation.

“The paraglider was uninjured and accessible at all times, but was unable to abseil herself.” A comrade had accidentally become aware of the woman's distress: he was walking there with his dog and heard cries for help. A short time later, the emergency call was made and the fall protection group was on its way.

A blessing in disguise: the paraglider gets stuck in a tree right on the path, so rescue with the turntable ladder is unproblematic. Deeper in the forest, the Mannheim fire department should have taken over the rescue at heights. Meanwhile, the paraglider that remained in the tree is being held by a climbing group of the Bergstrasse hang gliders who look after the launch site on the Ölberg between Dossenheim and Schriesheim.
