Numerous hacktivist groups have launched retaliatory attacks on French websites as part of the opDurov campaign after Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested by French authorities over alleged gaps in the messaging platform's content moderation and cooperation with law enforcement, SC Media reports.
According to cybersecurity expert Clement Domingo, also known as SaxX, distributed denial-of-service attacks were carried out on nearly ten websites, including those of the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products, the French daily newspaper La Voix du Nord and the French agricultural association Confederation Paysanne, as well as the official website with information on the country's public services.
While Russian hacktivist groups played a major role in the intrusions – the Russian Cyber Army Team, also known as People's Cyber Army, claimed responsibility for DDoS attacks on the websites of ANSM and digital network and energy infrastructure operator Syane, and People's Cyber Army and UserSec worked together to compromise the websites of the Administrative Court of Paris and the French National Court – Malaysian hacktivist group RipperSec admitted to also targeting French financial website PriceBank as part of the campaign.
