Report: Allen Robinson released by New York Giants

Former Penn State football wide receiver Allen Robinson has been released by the New York Giants, according to Tom Pellisaro of NFL Network.

Robinson played for Penn State from 2011-13, catching 177 passes for 2,474 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was twice named Big Ten Receiver of the Year and twice named to the All-Big Ten first team. Robinson also became the third Penn State wide receiver in history to be named to the All-American first team during his junior year.

After college, Robinson selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville JaguarsHe played four seasons in Jacksonville and made the Pro Bowl in 2015 before joining the Chicago Bears in 2018.

Robinson spent four seasons with the Bears and became the fifth Bears player in history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020 before joining the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.

Robinson spent one season with the Rams before traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the 2023 season. During his time with the Steelers, Robinson made 17 appearances and caught 34 passes for 280 receiving yards.

Robinson was the second Penn Stater released by the Giants this week. Jonathan Sutherland was lifted on Sunday.
