Suspect turns himself in after fatal shooting at playground in Hamburg

The officers initially looked for witnesses after the unknown suspects who could have been involved in the shooting fled.

On Thursday afternoon, a 19-year-old suspect presented himself to the police in the presence of his lawyer.

He admitted to being responsible for the crime at a playground on Kandinskyallee and near the Mümmelmannsberg subway station on Saturday.

According to the officials, the police were called immediately on Sunday evening after witnesses heard several gunshots.

After arriving at the scene, she found a 21-year-old and 20-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. The latter had to be resuscitated on site but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The 19-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday. He had to go into custody.

“The investigations, jointly led by the public prosecutor’s office and the homicide squad (LKA 41), are ongoing,” the police say. The law enforcement authorities are also checking whether other people could have contributed to the crime.
