New functions and many bugs fixed: New update for Garmin smartwatches released

Garmin is rolling out a new software update. This brings numerous improvements to several smartwatches and, as usual, should also fix numerous bugs. The update is likely to affect very different user groups.

The manufacturer Garmin is rolling out a new update. This updates the Fenix ​​8 AMOLED, the Fenix ​​8 Solar, the Enduro and the Fenix ​​E to software version 13.12. The usual different size versions of the watch are recorded. This update is a beta update and will therefore only be rolled out to participants in the beta program. Users must also request the update themselves using the corresponding function on the watch. As usual with a beta update, the diving functions and the taking of an electrocardiogram will be disabled.

There are many changes compared to the currently stable software version 12.35; the change log contains 40 entries. Numerous causes of crashes that have been resolved are already listed, for example the manufacturers of smartwatches could crash in various places – for example when activating the heart rate transmission or even displaying the fitness age. A major change: CIQ System 8 is supported, meaning new Connect IQ apps, dials and data fields can also be used. Third-party apps can also be loaded onto the smartwatch via Connect IQ.

New activity profiles have also been introduced, including for sailing regattas. An app for compatible outboard motors is available, and Garmin offers one. Users who like to be informed about sunrise and sunset now have additional options for alerting. The maximum speed of the virtual partner during training has also been increased, which is particularly relevant for very ambitious athletes.
