Man dies in hospital after accident with truck near St. Ingbert – Blaulichtreport-Saarland.de

St. Ingbert – After the serious head-on collision between a car and a truck on the L250 between St. Ingbert and Saarbrücken-Dudweiler on December 18, 2024 (we reported about it here) there is tragic news. As the police announced on Saturday morning, December 21st, the 87-year-old passenger of the car died from his serious injuries. The treating doctors informed investigators of the man's death in the early hours of the morning.

The accident occurred on December 18th when the two seniors' vehicle began to swerve and eventually collided head-on with a gravel truck. The 87-year-old was rescued from the vehicle by first responders after the accident and received emergency treatment on site before being taken to hospital. Despite intensive medical treatment, his life could not be saved.

The driver, also 87, who was trapped in the car, was freed with heavy rescue equipment and taken to a clinic in Saarbrücken. There is currently no further information about her current health status. The driver of the truck only suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses reported that the car had already hit another car before the collision and crossed into the oncoming lane. The truck driver tried to avoid the head-on collision, but was unable to prevent the accident. The seniors' car was completely destroyed in the impact, while the truck only suffered minor damage to the front.

The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is ongoing. A report commissioned by the public prosecutor's office is intended to clarify how the tragic collision occurred.
