On August 21, 2024 at approximately 11:06 p.m., officers from the Dare County Sheriff's Office A District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Highway 158 in Kitty Hawk.
During the stop, a sheriff's dog unit was deployed and indicated the presence of an illegal controlled substance. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, mushrooms and THC were discovered and confiscated.
Julia L. Knapp, F/21, of Virginia Beach, VA, was arrested at the scene. Knapp was charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and unlawful possession of THC.
In connection with these charges, Knapp was issued a $15,000 secured bond.
