The 49ers have finally finalized their 53-man roster for the 2024 season.
The San Francisco 49ers announced their first roster for the 2024 regular season on Tuesday. Trimming a 90-man roster down to 53 in 48 hours is no easy task, as many difficult decisions were made for SF on both sides of the ball, with notable names either being released or released for other uses on the roster.
But there were also some good surprises, as several outstanding players from the preseason made the first roster on Tuesday. These include tight end Jake Tonges and cornerback Darell Luter Jr.

Some notable cuts in both the passing game and the secondary. 2023 draft picks Cameron Latu and Brayden Willis were released on Tuesday. In addition, cornerback Samuel Womack III and wide receiver Danny Gray were released by the 49ers.
Meanwhile, there was also injury news on Tuesday: Safety Talanoa Hufanga was activated from the physically unable to perform list. However, he will slowly ease back into football after suffering a torn ACL in Week 11. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw was placed on the PUP list. And unfortunately, running back Elijah Mitchell's season is over, he is now on the injured list.
