FORT WORTH, Texas – Police arrested a Fort Worth ISD student on Tuesday for bringing a firearm onto campus.
It happened at Arlington Heights High School in west Fort Worth.
According to police, school staff noticed an odor of marijuana in one of the restrooms today.
A school security officer searched a 16-year-old student and found that he was carrying a weapon.
The police arrested the student and a letter was sent to the parents about the incident.
According to Fort Worth police, no one was injured in the incident and no threats were made against students or staff.
Additional security measures have been taken on campus, but the school did not provide any information about what these measures were.
“As a reminder, weapons are strictly prohibited on campus and any student who brings a weapon to school will be subject to disciplinary action,” Arlington Heights Principal Justin Barrett wrote in a letter to parents.
The school also thanked the Fort Worth Police Department for their quick response to the situation.
