A man has been charged with killing a woman who was found beaten to death in an abandoned building in Englewood earlier this month.
Antwon Chambers, 32, is charged with first-degree murder and murder with a high probability of death or injury, Chicago police said Sunday.
On Dec. 9, Chambers allegedly attacked 34-year-old Terryn Winters in an abandoned building in the 7000 block of South Normal Boulevard, police said.
According to a police report, officers found Winters unresponsive due to multiple blunt force injuries.
A large wrench was found next to her body, according to the report. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A GoFundMe started by her older sister describes Winters as “the light of every party.” According to the site, Winters leaves behind a son.
Chambers was arrested Thursday in the 500 block of West 69th Street, police said.
He is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Sunday.
