For the third time, unknown people have distributed butyric acid in a butcher's shop in the west of Stuttgart. After the crimes in early May and mid-December, the perpetrators struck again on Thursday night. The police are looking for witnesses.
Once again, a butcher's shop on Kronbergstrasse in Stuttgart-West was the target of a butyric acid attack – this time in the early hours of last Thursday. The police are looking for witnesses.
According to the officials, a resident noticed a strange smell around 5:30 a.m. and then alerted the emergency services. Initial police findings indicate that the substance is butyric acid. The damage caused amounts to several thousand euros.
Butcher shop has already been targeted twice by unknown people
Suspected animal protection activists had already targeted the butcher shop in May of this year and last Monday. At the beginning of May, unknown people had smeared the abbreviation “ALF” (Animal Liberation Front) in yellow letters on the facade, the slogan “Meat is Murder” was also sprayed on the sidewalk and the word “murder” was sprayed twice on the house wall. At that time too, the perpetrators sprayed a foul-smelling liquid into the butcher shop. It is also said to have been butyric acid. At the time, the police assumed damage would amount to tens of thousands of euros.
On the night of last Monday, the unknown attackers struck for the second time. The slogan “Peaceful X-Mas without terror of animals” was emblazoned on the facade of the butcher shop. In addition, a circle with the abbreviation “ALF” could be seen on a display case whose window had been broken. The perpetrators are also said to have sprayed a liquid, apparently also butyric acid, into the sales area.
Now the third attack involving butyric acid occurred early on Thursday morning. The perpetrator was able to escape undetected. The police are asking witnesses to contact the criminal investigation department on 0711/8990-5778.
