Limbach. (cao/kö) It's terrible news – and particularly cruel so shortly before Christmas: On the fourth Advent, an 82-year-old man died in a fire in a residential building on Hirschbergstrasse in Limbach.
His wife was attending a church service when the fire broke out for unknown reasons. More than 100 firefighters were deployed to fight the flames. The extinguishing work continued until the evening hours.
The alarm was received in the control center at 10:33 a.m. All seven departments of the local fire department responded – and a few minutes later called for reinforcements. A turntable ladder and a tank fire engine each came from Mosbach and Buchen, as well as a respiratory protection equipment truck from Walldürn. Josef Bangert, overall commander of the Limbach fire department, took over operational management.

The police and DRK also responded with several vehicles; An emergency pastoral care team was also on site. A first responder injured his hand when he broke a window to get into the building. He was treated by emergency services. A DRK supply unit set up tents and took care of feeding the emergency services.
In addition to district fire chief Jörg Kirschenlohr, Limbach's mayor Thorsten Weber also got an idea of the situation on site. “The sympathy in the neighborhood and in the community is great,” reported Weber and expressly thanked all rescue workers for their coordinated and committed efforts. The material damage caused is in the mid six-figure range. The police have started investigating the cause of the fire.
