As the authorities announced, two previously unknown men attacked the couple on the stairs of an apartment building on Sonnenallee around 5:30 p.m.
One of the attackers pushed the 38-year-old down the stairs, causing him to suffer serious head injuries.
The man was taken to hospital by emergency services. Nevertheless, it was said that his death was to be expected. The 29-year-old remained uninjured.

The perpetrators were able to escape undetected after the brutal attack.
