Sprinters show signs of caution in the Neubrandenburg Jahnsportforum

Those responsible at SC Neubrandenburg rated their traditional Christmas sports festival as a complete success. Almost 450 participants found their way to the Jahnsportforum. “The sports festival has become established. “Thanks to the many participants, especially from Poland, our sports festival has a high status and makes it attractive,” said Klaus Baarck, “head” of the event, more than satisfied. The fact that even athletes from Bremen were there shows how attractive the track and field athletes' get-together is so close to Christmas.

The comeback of former SCN sprinter Cheyenne Kuhn was awaited with great excitement. In the end, the 22-year-old, who now competed for the HSG University of Greifswald, made a strong debut on her return to the tartan track on her way to victory with 7.77 seconds in the preliminary run and 7.74 in the final. Although this performance doesn't make for the biggest exclamation mark on the day.

The outstanding sprinter was the former 14-year-old Pole Helena Goliszewska from Police. She won the 60-meter sprint in the W 14, which was also the most numerous competition with 61 runners, with an extremely strong 7.71 seconds. Goliszewska was not only the fastest woman that day, she would also have won the boys' competition in her age group.

From SCN's perspective, there were two performances that particularly stood out. John-Christian Schochardt won his first official competition with the 5-kilogram ball in the U18 age group with 16.21 meters. “John did really well, now we have to build on that in 2025,” said trainer Franka Dietzsch with satisfaction. Teammate Johannes Kunkel came second with 14.96 meters.

Giona Beyersdorf, who was born in Neustrelitz, achieved the second outstanding performance of the day from the SCN perspective in the long jump. With a personal best of 5.56 meters, the ninth-grader from the sports high school won the W15 age group. “Personally, she has developed well in her first few months since moving to school.” “Not much is missing from the standard for the German championship (5.75) in the summer of 2025,” said her coach Carsten Hodea happily. Giona Beyersdorf also won the shot put and the 60 meters in her age group.

Otherwise there were several discipline victories to celebrate for the Neubrandenburgers. Highlights include Arvid Ziemann's 16.15 meters with the 4-kilogram ball in the M15, Leonard Schubert's 2:15.03 minutes over 800 meters in the M14 and Linus Kern's (M20) victory over 60 meters Hurdles in 8.54 seconds.
