There were numerous incidents involving accidents at the weekend for the police on the High Rhine.

Accident on the A98 near Binzen: Error when overtaking leads to full closure

A mistake while overtaking led to an accident on the A98 motorway between the Kandern and Binzen junctions early on Sunday morning around 6:55 a.m. According to police, a BMW that was traveling at high speed skidded while overtaking. The vehicle hit the rear of an overtaking car, then skidded and finally collided with the guardrail.

The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries. The Weil am Rhein traffic police are investigating the exact cause of the accident. After the road was cleaned and the vehicles involved were rescued, traffic was reopened. The damage caused is estimated at around 17,000 euros.

A1 / Aarau-West exit: 46-year-old crashes into signs

On Friday evening, a driver collided with the curve signs at the Aarau-West motorway exit. The 46-year-old remained uninjured. According to the police, the breath alcohol test carried out gave a qualified result of 0.6 per mille. Her driver's license was confiscated.

On Friday evening, a 46-year-old driver was driving her Audi on Autobahn 1 towards Zurich. At the Aarau-West motorway exit, the woman intended to leave the motorway.

According to the police, her vehicle ended up next to the road and collided with the curve signs there. The vehicle then stopped. The driver was uninjured, but major damage was caused.

The woman had to hand over her driver's license and will be reported to the responsible public prosecutor's office.

Waldshut-Tiengen: Drivers overlook an e-scooter driver – one slightly injured and 2,000 property damage

On Thursday, December 19th, around 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was driving his Renault along Ostpreußenstrasse in the direction of Berliner Strasse. According to police reports, he overlooked a 15-year-old teenager who was crossing the road from left to right on his e-scooter.

There was a collision in which the teenager sustained minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital by his mother. The Renault suffered damage of around 2000 euros.

Canton of Aargau: Threats via email

In the past few weeks, an unknown perpetrator sent terrorist threats via email against several companies. The Aargau cantonal police are investigating. The threatening messages sent by email are aimed at information against several companies in various communities in the Baden district. News of the same kind was also reported in Suhr and Oftringen.

The company in question was threatened with a terrorist attack if it did not close the business. The threatening messages also included names of people allegedly involved.

In all cases, the relevant investigations are carried out by the cantonal police. A motive for the seemingly baseless threats has not yet been identified. If you receive such an email, it is recommended not to delete the message and to contact the police.

Schopfheim: Cyclist seriously injured

On Thursday, December 19th, shortly after 8 a.m., a 22-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident. A 27-year-old driver was driving on Rebacker Street and wanted to turn right at the junction with Dinkelbergstrasse (Kreisstrasse 6336).

According to police reports, she overlooked a 22-year-old cyclist coming from the left who had the right of way and collided with him. The cyclist fell onto the road and was seriously injured. The cyclist was taken to hospital by emergency services with a suspected arm fracture. The cyclist was dressed in dark clothing, was not wearing a helmet and was said to have been cycling without lights. The total damage is estimated at around 2000 euros.

Waldshut-Tiengen: Vehicle crashed into power distribution box – police are asking for information

Between Wednesday, December 18th, 7 p.m. and Thursday, December 19th, 10:30 a.m., an unknown road user drove down Kalvarienbergstrasse and, according to police reports, left the road in a right-hand bend. It hit a power distribution box, which was destroyed. The damage amounts to around 6,000 euros. Parts of the vehicle were found at the scene of the accident. The vehicle involved in the accident is probably a silver VW. The Waldshut-Tiengen police station (07751/83160) is asking witnesses who can provide relevant information to come forward.

Waldshut-Tiengen/ Waldshut: Accident at the border crossing – police are looking for witnesses

An accident between a truck and a Dodge Ram occurred on Thursday, December 19th at around 3:30 p.m. on Konstanzer Straße/Rheinbrückstraße. Here a truck wanted to turn left at the traffic lights towards the border crossing onto Rheinbrückstrasse. While turning, there was a collision with a Dodge that was driving next to it on the right.

The damage to the two vehicles amounts to 500 euros each. Since those involved in the accident provide different information about what happened, the Waldshut-Tiengen police station (07751/83160) is looking for witnesses who were able to observe the accident. They are asked to contact the police station.

Weil am Rhein: Arrest after unauthorized entry

A 36-year-old was arrested at the Weil am Rhein – Friedlingen border crossing by federal police forces on the basis of an arrest warrant. The man had previously entered Germany without permission.

Federal police forces checked the Libyan national as a passenger on the cross-border tram at the Weil am Rhein – Friedlingen border crossing on Wednesday afternoon. The 36-year-old was unable to present any travel documents. Checking his fingerprints using Fast ID resulted in four alerts.

There was an arrest warrant against the man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. There were also three alerts to determine whereabouts, each due to theft or a particularly serious case of theft. The 36-year-old was temporarily arrested on site. The Federal Police initiated criminal proceedings against him for violations of the Residence Act. The following day, the arrest warrant was executed by the district court and the wanted person was then taken to a correctional facility by the federal police.
