A man with a Nazi tattoo on his face has reportedly been sentenced to death for the murder of two women.
Wade Wilson, nicknamed the “Deadpool Killer” because he has the same name as the Marvel character played by Ryan Reynolds in the film series, was sentenced by a Florida court on Tuesday.
Wilson, who had declined to speak in Lee County court earlier in the afternoon, appeared unmoved as the verdict was announced amid cheers and applause from the audience, the Independent reported.
In June, he was found guilty of killing Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz, both from the same state, in the city of Cape Coral on October 6, 2019.
He was sentenced to death for both crimes, the New York Post (NYP) reported.
District Judge Nicholas Thompson told the court: “The evidence shows that the murders were heinous, cruel and savage,” while the second murder [of Ms Ruiz] was “cold, calculated and premeditated”.
The jury recommended the death penalty and Judge Thompson said Wilson's crimes were so horrific that he saw “no basis” to overturn it, the NYP added.
The 30-year-old, who wears a swastika on his face, killed the women “for the sake of killing,” deputy prosecutor Andreas Gardiner had previously stated in court.
Wilson first strangled 35-year-old Melton in her Cape Coral home, where her body was found after they met at a bar with live music.
After stealing the dead woman's car, he used her phone to call his girlfriend, 41-year-old Melissa Montanez. He attacked her, but she refused to get into the vehicle.
He then met Ms. Ruiz, 43, who asked him for directions to Cape Coral and invited her to get in the car.
When the woman tried to get out of the vehicle, Wilson strangled her and threw her out of the car – only to get back in and “run over her until she looked like spaghetti,” the court said.
Ms Melton suffered bruising to her face and body, bleeding from her neck, and contusions to her lungs, liver, bladder and colon, among other injuries, the Independent reported.
Her injuries included a broken nose, a cut on her left breast, bruising on both sides of her body and several broken ribs.

Wilson's lawyers argued that he suffered brain damage due to his drug addiction and abandonment issues because his biological parents gave him up for adoption.
His adoptive parents begged for mercy in a letter and wrote: “The man is still stuck in there.”
Wilson was also found guilty of grand larceny, burglary, assault and petty theft.
In Florida, anyone sentenced to death can choose between lethal injection and the electric chair.
