Writer and activist Cecilia Parodi is being investigated in Milan for “incitement to commit a crime motivated by racial, ethnic and religious discrimination” and defamation in the context of racial hatred. Holocaust survivor and life senator Liliana Segre had previously reported her to the authorities because Parodi had posted a video on Instagram in which she allegedly expressed “hatred against all Jews”.
Milan prosecutor Leonardo Lesti opened the investigation after Segre, assisted by lawyer Vincenzo Saponara, submitted a report.
According to investigators, Parodi first used anti-Semitic words against Segre on Instagram and then, according to a user's comment, allegedly expressed “hatred against all Jews, hatred against all Israelis, from the first to the last.”
These last two alleged statements, according to judicial sources, led the public prosecutor's office to also open an investigation against Parodi for alleged incitement to commit a crime and serious defamation.
