Fantasy football rankings 2024, draft prep: QB, RB, WR and TE picks, cheat sheet, ADP, tiers, by NFL model

Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones only played in nine games for the Jaguars last season, catching 34 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns as one of the flop players in fantasy football. This was a significant drop off from his best season in 2022, in which he received 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns. Jones was suspended for five games for violating the NFL's conduct rules, so he is not expected to play a role in 2024 fantasy football. Cardinals fans will hope that Marvin Harrison Jr. lives up to the high expectations as one of the 2024 fantasy football outliers and rises up the 2024 fantasy football WR rankings.

Harrison was the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft and has already established himself as the best wide receiver in a young offense. Quarterback Kyler Murray has proven he can put up big numbers and could also rise in the 2024 Fantasy Football QB rankings. Last year, the model correctly predicted that Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle would not meet his fantasy football ADP. Waddle's 2023 fantasy football ADP was 34.86 overall and he was the 11th receiver taken off the board on average. He managed a 1,000-yard season but had just 72 receptions with four touchdowns and finished the season as the No. 34 fantasy football wide receiver in CBS Sports PPR leagues.

The same model has proven itself to be effective in providing fantasy football picks. It identified AJ Brown as a surprise pick in 2020 and predicted Jonathan Taylor's monstrous 2021 season. Additionally, it has predicted previous fantasy football surprise picks like Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018, and Davante Adams in 2017. Anyone who has bet on players like these has had a good run at their championship titles.

The model is developed by the same people who create the projections for all three major fantasy sites, and it beat the human experts last season when there was a huge difference in the rankings. The Fantasy Football 2024 PPR rankings and standard Fantasy Football 2024 projections are updated multiple times a day, so you'll always get the best fantasy football tips and the latest fantasy football tiers.

Top QB Rankings for Fantasy Football 2024

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three fantasy football QB picks for 2024:

1. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles: Hurts has finished as the QB3 in fantasy the last two seasons, and his running ability is a big reason why. Last year, he scored 15 rushing touchdowns, most of which came off Philadelphia's nearly unstoppable “tush push” quarterback sneak. Hurts jumps to No. 1 in SportsLine's 2024 Fantasy Football QB rankings thanks to his rushing potential and the fact that he has the best receiver duo among the top fantasy QBs in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Like Hurts, Allen reached the end zone 15 times as a rusher last season. He is still considered an elite fantasy QB option, although his passing potential is somewhat limited by the departure of Stefon Diggs, who was targeted at least 154 times in all four seasons in Buffalo.

3. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Mahomes and the Chiefs have put their slow start last year behind them to win another Super Bowl. The Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown as a free agent and added Xavier Worthy in the draft to add some speed at the receiver position. Mahomes still has 5,000 yards, but his QB8 fantasy finish last year has dropped him a bit in the fantasy football rankings. Find more top QBs here.

Top RB Rankings in 2024 Fantasy Football

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three RB picks for Fantasy Football 2024:

1. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers: McCaffrey finished last season as a fantasy RB1, averaging 21.2 touches and 126.5 total yards per game. He ranked second in runs, fourth in targets and first in red zone touches among running backs. Injury is his managers' only legitimate concern in 2024, as he appears to still be in the prime of his career.

2. Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles: The 27-year-old played at least 70% of the snaps in 11 of his 14 games with the Giants, ranking second in snap percentage. He's in a much better situation in Philadelphia, where he should take some touchdowns away from quarterback Jalen Hurts. Barkley's fantasy potential has been limited by New York's struggles, so his managers should be able to tap into his full potential this season.

3. Breece Hall, New York Jets: Hall was the RB6 in fantasy points per game last season despite recovering from a serious knee injury. He finished the season with 1,585 total yards on 299 touches, averaging 20.2 touches and 102.5 total yards from Weeks 5-18. Hall will remain a central part of the offense this season, and the return of Aaron Rodgers could give him a boost as a pass receiver out of the backfield. For more top RBs, check out here.

Top WR Rankings for Fantasy Football 2024

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three WR picks for Fantasy Football 2024:

1. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys: The 25-year-old has steadily improved in each season of his professional career, posting 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023. Lamb finished the season as the WR1 in fantasy points per game and finished the season by topping the 100 receiving yards mark in seven of his final 12 games. He ranked fourth in the league in target share and fifth in yards per route run.

2. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins: Hill finished second at his position last season with nearly 300 fantasy points and averaged just under 20 points per game. He had more than 1,700 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns and led the league in yards per route run (3.72). Hill is now 30 years old, but so far there have been no signs of slowing down.

3. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions: St. Brown completes last season's three-peat, when he finished third among wide receivers with 16.5 fantasy points per game. He finished the season with 1,371 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, and posted a 30% target share and 34% air yard share. St. Brown signed a large contract extension in the offseason that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at the time. Find more top WRs here.

Top TE Rankings for Fantasy Football 2024

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three TE picks for Fantasy Football 2024:

1. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs: The 34-year-old already has all the makings of the greatest tight end of all time by catching over 90 passes for the sixth consecutive season in 2023. He signed a two-year contract extension in the offseason and remains a focal point of Kansas City's elite offense. Some fantasy managers are disappointed in Kelce after he failed to reach 1,000 yards last year, but he's still the best player at his position.

2. Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens: Andrews has only played one full season since his rookie year, but he scored one more touchdown in 10 games last year than he did in 15 games the year before. He continues to be quarterback Lamar Jackson's first choice and caught an average of 4.5 balls per game last season. His points per target average was also nearly three percentage points higher than his career average, making his health his owners' only legitimate concern.

3. Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions: He surprised the fantasy world as a rookie, finishing the season as the TE1 with 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. LaPorta averaged 52.3 yards per game, so it's easy to assume he'll improve on those numbers this season. SportsLine's model needs to see more from him before ranking him ahead of Kelce and Andrews, but LaPorta is already one of the best tight ends in the league. Find more top TEs here.
