HOUSTON – A woman died in an accident shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to police, the woman, presumably in her 60s, was driving an SUV and crashed into the back of a broken-down truck. She was traveling at high speed and suffered life-threatening injuries. She died at the scene of the accident. The truck driver, who is employed by a private company, was uninjured. The truck had broken down at the time of the collision.
Houston police and firefighters arrived at the scene. The Trucking Authority is investigating the condition of the truck and the circumstances of the accident. Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
