OPP offers $50,000 reward to help solve fatal hit-and-run in November 2023

SMITHS FALLS, ONT. – Ontario Provincial Police are offering a $50,000 reward for the arrest and conviction in the case of an alleged fatal hit-and-run crash last year.

SMITHS FALLS, ONT. – Ontario Provincial Police are offering a $50,000 reward for the arrest and conviction in the case of an alleged fatal hit-and-run crash last year.

According to police, 34-year-old Steven Tate was found dead off Highway 15 north of Smiths Falls, Ontario on November 8, 2023, five days after he was reported missing.

Investigators believe that a dark-colored compact car or sedan, probably a Mazda, struck Tate on the night of November 3, 2023 and then fled the scene.

According to police, his body was found next to the highway.

The OPP also put up a poster near where Tate was found.

Police believe the car was damaged on the passenger side and are asking anyone who saw this to come forward.
