Leipzig- On Saturday night, presumably unknown perpetrators stole the campaign vehicle of CDU politician Volker Klostermann (52) in Leipzig-Leutzsch lit.
As police spokeswoman Susanne Lübcke confirmed in response to a TAG24 query, the fire brigade was alerted at 2:55 a.m. in William-Zipperer-Straße. A Citroën Jumper had caught fire there for reasons unknown.
“The Leipzig-West fire station was able to extinguish the flames, but the vehicle still burned down partially. The damage to property amounted to 30,000 euros,” said the spokeswoman.
The car was towed away to secure evidence and determine the cause of the fire.

As the CDU Saxony announced on the “X” platform, the vehicle is the campaign car of Volker Klostermann (52), who is running for the Saxon state parliament in Grimma.
“What kind of times are these? Please go and vote accordingly tomorrow!” the CDU politician commented on the incident on his Facebook page.
Klostermann had only been the victim of an attack at Leipzig Central Station in June: as he stopped his car at a red light in front of the station building, he was attacked and brutally beaten by a Polish homeless man. However, a political motive could be ruled out.
In the case of the fire that occurred on Sunday night, the criminal police have begun investigations and are asking witnesses for information.
