September 1, 2024 Bureaucracy tamers, digitalization fans and smart city enthusiasts – they will all come together from October 15 to 17, 2024 at the Smart Country Convention in Berlin. Whether guidelines for the use of AI in administration, digital twins in the smart city or personalized administration on the smartphone – there are already innovative solutions for the digitalization of cities, communities and regions. Top representatives from administration, politics and science, pioneers of the digital economy, hidden champions and local industry heads will show at the Smart Country Convention 2024 how we can master the challenges of digitalization together.

The Smart Country Convention is the industry meeting place for decision-makers in the public sector and the digital economy. From October 15 to 17, 2024, numerous politicians, speakers, and national and international exhibitors will come together at the Berlin Exhibition Center to advance the digitization of the public sector.

As in previous years, the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Home Affairs has assumed patronage for the Smart Country Convention. Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser The SCCON will be officially opened with a keynote speech on October 15th.

The partner country of the Smart Country Convention 2024 is Latvia. President Edgars Rinkēvičs will also speak on the SCCON stage. He stresses the importance of international cooperation in digitalization: “In recent years, Latvia has improved accessibility and increased efficiency and transparency for its citizens by digitizing public services. Our IT sector provides the technological know-how and innovative solutions needed to drive the digital and sustainable economy. It is important that the European Union shares its knowledge of innovation among its member states and strengthens its competitiveness on a global level. The German-Baltic Digital Innovation Club initiative launched last year demonstrated this common goal of our policymakers and served as a solid foundation for further strengthening economic cooperation and knowledge exchange.”

Visions and best practices from administration and the digital economy

But it is not just politics that will be represented on the stages of the Smart Country Convention – well-known speakers from administration and the digital economy will also be on the five stages on all three days of the event and will present their ideas and solutions for the digitization of the public sector. More than 20 representatives from authorities and municipalities will also present their flagship projects – such as the Klingenstadt Solingen, which relies on open source systems in its smart city infrastructure. Or the State Ministry and InnoLab Baden-Württemberg: They will present the AI ​​prototype F13, which can summarize extensive texts, research them and provide text modules. Hamburg, together with Nortal, will present life situation management – an innovative project for personalized administration on the smartphone.

Innovative solutions for the public sector

Numerous national and international exhibitors have already registered for the Smart Country Convention 2024. These include Bechtle, Deutsche Telekom, SAP Germany, aconium, adesso, Amazon Web Services, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Google Cloud, Huawei Technologies Germany, Ionos SE, Microsoft Germany, Schwarz Digits and Typo3. Smart countries need smart people

The third day of the Smart Country Convention is all about recruiting young talent. Career Day brings companies and administrations together with potential new employees. The public service is the largest employer in the federal, state and local governments and offers attractive job offers to both young professionals and specialists with many years of professional experience. In the Career Speed ​​Dating, you get to know managers and potential employees in a 1:1 conversation, on the Career Stage there are exciting keynote speeches about careers in the public sector and the digital job wall offers national and international job offers from companies and administrations at a glance.

New this year – a podcast area in which participants of the Smart Country Convention can follow more than 10 industry podcasts live. The podcasters record their conversations in a glass podcast studio, and visitors can listen in directly via Bluetooth headphones.
