Many of the largest cities in NRW are planning to have Sunday shopping next weekend. Dortmund is surprising us with three dates at once. In these places, the shops will be open on September 1st:

Sunday shopping on 1 September: Düsseldorf combines trade fair and shopping
A special Sunday shopping event is scheduled for September 1st in the state capital. Dusseldorf The “Caravan Fair” combines leisure and vacation with shopping. While camping enthusiasts can find out about the latest trends in the exhibition halls, there is the chance to shop to your heart’s content in the city and the old town.
The shops will open between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. As the Düsseldorf local office announced, a sporting event will also be part of Sunday. The “Kö-Lauf” will take place on the famous Königsallee (all news about leisure in NRW on RUHR24).

Sunday shopping on September 1st: Shops in Essen open for the market festival
Even in the self-proclaimed “shopping city” Eat On September 1st, the shops in one district will open. On Sunday, you can shop to your heart's content in Borbeck. The occasion is the 41st Borbeck Market Festival. According to the district's website, Borbeck invites you to “relaxed strolling and shopping”.
The market festival has even more highlights to offer. Visitors can look forward to a wide range of culinary offerings, lots of live music and activities such as an “oldie tram” or face painting for children. The Borbeck market festival started on Friday (30 August) and ended on Sunday.
Sunday shopping in NRW: Special anniversary in Witten
A very special anniversary will mark the opening of the shops on 1 September in WittenThe largest city in the Ennepe-Ruhr district is celebrating 600 years of the onion fair. This runs from August 30th to September 2nd. The shops in the city center open on Sunday between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition to the Sunday shopping, the onion fair offers the well-known fair program. This includes rides, a festive fair parade, a large marquee and other smaller events. On Saturday evening there is also a large musical fireworks display at the Wittener Saalbau.
