Bavarian cycling app: 50,000 kilometres of cycle paths on your mobile phone

There is a new cycling app for the Free State: the “Bayern Cycle Route Planner”, the successor version of the Bayern Cycling App released in 2020. It has one goal: all 50,000 kilometers of cycle paths in the Free State should be easy to find and use with a simple tool.

It is intuitive to use. Enter your start and destination and the app will suggest a suitable route by bike. Petra Husemann-Roew, regional head of the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club), is impressed: “We are delighted that the service is continuing to develop. We know the paper map, it is very popular. We also know the cycle route planner in its old form. Hopefully this will get a lot of users who will test the app.”

Cycling app with extensive search function

The biggest innovation: The free app has an extensive search function for restaurants, bike support and overnight accommodation. Certified Bed & Bike guesthouses can be accessed directly.

The ADFC distributes the certificates to guesthouses that apply for them: “The ADFC qualifies guesthouses, from youth hostels to campsites to 4-star hotels, as bike-friendly hosts. These are the so-called Bed & Bike establishments. They can be accessed via the app. If I'm looking for accommodation as a cyclist, I can find it directly in the app.
